Asian Television Network to Build New Master Control Center with Support from Harris Broadcast Communications and BSE

TORONTO, April 3, 2012— Asian Television Network (ATN) announces plans for a multi-channel master control center when its new Broadcast Centre opens in Markham, Ontario in June. Harris Broadcast Communications and systems integration company Broadcast Systems & Equipment (BSE) are working together to bring the project to completion as ATN transitions to HDTV and prepares for continued expansion.
ATN today offers 34 specialty television channels including general entertainment, movies, sports, news, music, lifestyle and spiritual programming in numerous languages serving Canada’s South Asian community. The new master control center, which will be integrated by BSE, features a complete Harris infrastructure and workflow solution to support the current lineup and help ATN efficiently add new channels.
“Our new Broadcast Centre is being configured for growth, and the state-of-the-art technology designed for our master control is central to our multi-channel vision,” said Shan Chandrasekar, President and CEO of ATN, adding that the master control will have the ability to expand from 40 to 100 channels. The company will more than double its floor space and upgrade many aspects of operations when it moves to the new broadcast centre.
The Harris solution crosses most of the company’s hardware and software product portfolio, including routers, multi-viewers; signal processing, test and measurement, servers, graphics, automation and digital asset management equipment.
